Association

Want to give David Garrett a try, simply because he is associated with -

(1) Itzhak Pearlman. Just found that David Garrett was a student of Itzhak Perlman at Juilliard. Perlman's Beethoven Sonata with Ashkenazy happens to be one of my favorite being listened to intensely after I rediscovered and rescued it from office recently. http://amoozing.blogspot.com/2007/03/perlman-ashkenazy.html

(2) Carmen-Fantasie. Again, it happens that ASM's Carmen-Fantasie is another heavily listened repertoire recently (the only 2 violin thingy at arm's length from my bed). Mutter plays it very powerful while delicate and deep. It is "easy" to be hard core loud and pounding technically. Would like to see how and in what way David Garrett is sensitive to the work. http://amoozing.blogspot.com/2007/03/blog-post_18.html

ps Not liking David Garrett in the first place - because his last performance on a dunno-what-HK-TV-show with Eason was disappointing. Be fair, wouldn't solely be his fault. My own feeling matters - a total disaster. As if they were trying hard to cross-over/collaborate simply for the sake of doing.
ps2 Sidetrack: Someone (forgot whom) said one of the success factors for American Idol and the subsequent success of the idols (say, some of them - Kelly Clarkson - are selling 8m albums) is the ability to get audience engaged and associated with the 'idols' during the course, in which relationships are formed.
